Answers to the most commonly asked questions by our clients about the Heart of Costa Rica Package, hotels, reservations, payment, changes to itinerary, driving in Costa Rica etc.

Is the Heart of Costa Rica Package a private/independent tour or an organized tour? Will we be part of a group or on our own? Are we free to do whatever we want in each location?.
The Heart of Costa Rica Package offers a combination of an independent vacation with the comforts of a well-planned, organized, hassle-free tour. Our driver will take you (and up to 9 more people at the most if you choose one of our scheduled tour dates, or just you if you choose to have a private package on your preferred date) in a comfortable, air-conditioned van from one hotel to the next. Once you arrive at the hotel, you will be on your own, to enjoy and explore each location at your own pase and following your own interests. In each location you will have to use local transportation (relatively cheap taxis, buses and walk). Several activities are already included in the Heart of Costa Rica Package - a canopy/zipline tour, entrance to Ecotermales hot springs in Arenal, a horseback riding tour at Finca Valmy in Manuel Antonio, a tour at a local coffee plantation and a visit to La Paz Waterfalls and Gardens.

Is the package available any time of the year?
You have the choice of joining a small group of other travelers on one of our 2 scheduled tour dates on each month OR we can arrange for your own private Heart of Costa Rica Package starting on your preferred date with your own private driver for only $150 more!

What happens if there is no availability for the dates I am interested in?
The space for each tour date is limited, so unfortunately if there is no availability for your preferred dates you will have to book for another time.

Can I make the package longer?
If you would like to extend your stay at hotel Orquideas Inn prior to the begining of the tour or at the end of the tour, we will gladly book your extra nights and any local tours or activities you would like to add.

Can I add activities to the package?
Many different activities are offered in each of the locations and hotels (for example - ATV, rafting, visits to national parks etc.), and we will gladly help you arrange for these in advance. If you are interested in a local tour/activity that is offered by one of the hotels in our package, we will be happy to book these for you and add them to the final quote of the package. You can always arrange and pay for local activities at the hotels, the people at the tour desk will be able to answer any questions you may have and book the tours as well, if you do not want to pre-book them with us.
Of course, many of the activities can be done independetly and you do not need a local tour operator or guide for them - you can simply do them on your own! A visit to a local National Park or a hike to a local waterfall are easy to do and cheap (or free)!

Is the package suitable for a family or only for couples?
Costa Rica is very popular and suitable for children of all ages, and all the hotels and activities in our package are great for kids. Depending on the age and number of kids, we will give you a new quote.

We are going to Costa Rica for our honeymoon, do you offer anything special for honeymooners?
Costa Rica has become a popular destination for honeymooners, and all the rooms in the package are ideal for couples (with the best views etc.). We also designed a special "honeymoon version" of the Heart of Costa Rica Package, which includes everything as the regular package, and in addition it also includes a gift basket, massage for two and a Sunset Sail in Manuel Antonio. This "upgraded" version costs US$276 more.

I am ready to book the package, how does it work exactly? Do I need to pay a deposit?
Write us (heartofcostarica@costaricafinca.com or use our Reservation Form) and let us know when you would like to come (click here to see the available tour dates for the upcoming months) and if you have any special requests or questions. We will check availability and get back to you quickly. Once we finalize your preferred dates, we give you the final quote (in case you want to add some activities etc.) and you give us your OK, we go ahead and confirm all the reservations with the hotels. It usually takes us 24-48 hours to get all the confirmations. We prefer to have all the confirmations before the clients purchase their airline tickets, to make sure the hotels and activities are all booked. Once we have all the confirmations and you purchase your airline tickets - that is basically it! No deposit is needed. Full payment is due 45 days before your arrival, but only after EVERYTHING is booked and confirmed, so that is the last thing we take care of. We usually use Paypal, and you can pay with any credit card.
